Commissions

A commissioned piece begins with a conversation.

Some clients know exactly where a piece will live. Others arrive with colours, photographs, memories or a feeling they want the work to hold. Some have fallen in love with a painting that has already sold and want to explore a new original work inspired by its feeling, palette, movement or texture.

Janet listens first, then creates a piece shaped by the client's space, inspiration and personal connection.

Why Commission Janet

A Personal Original

A commission is not about filling a blank wall. It is about creating a piece that feels right for the person, the space and the way the artwork will be lived with over time.

Janet's work across painting, sculpture, ceramics and mixed media allows each commission to begin with the idea rather than a fixed formula. The final piece is created as an original work, guided by the qualities the client responds to and the space it will belong to.

Commissions are created to suit your space and budget, from small original studies to larger statement works. Share what you have in mind and Janet will suggest options.

The Commission Process

  1. 1

    Initial Conversation

Share what you are drawn to, where the piece may live and any practical details such as scale, colour, medium or placement.

  2. 2

    Direction and Fit

Janet considers the space, inspiration and feeling behind the enquiry. If the project feels aligned, the commission direction is confirmed.

  3. 3

    Creation

Janet begins the work, allowing the piece to develop through material, colour, texture and observation.

  4. 4

    Final Review

Once complete, the finished work is shared with the client and arrangements are made for collection, delivery or installation support where needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Janet create something inspired by a painting that has already sold?

Yes. If you are drawn to the feeling, palette, movement, texture or scale of a sold work, Janet can explore a new original piece inspired by those qualities.

Does Janet copy existing artwork?

No. Every commission is an original work. Janet can respond to inspiration, atmosphere, colour and feeling, but does not reproduce an existing piece or copy another artist's work.

Do I need to know exactly what I want before enquiring?

No. Many commissions begin with a space, a feeling, a few images or a response to one of Janet's existing works. The first conversation is there to understand what you are drawn to.

Can a commission be created for a specific room or interior project?

Yes. Janet can consider scale, colour, placement and the character of the space while still creating a piece that feels true to her work.

Can interior designers enquire on behalf of a client?

Yes. Interior designers are welcome to enquire about available works or commission possibilities for a specific project.

How long does a commission take?

Timing depends on scale, medium and Janet's current studio schedule. A more specific timeline can be discussed after the initial enquiry.

How is pricing handled?

Pricing depends on the size, medium and scope of the work. Janet can discuss pricing once the direction of the commission is clearer.
